Accessibility

This statement explains how accessible this website is, what we know isn't yet good enough, and how to tell us about a problem. The website is run by the Digital Kaleidoscope research project at Imperial College London. We want as many people as possible to be able to use it.

How accessible is this website?

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA. This is a new website and we haven't yet completed testing, so we can't say that it fully meets that standard.

We build the site with standard page structure, labelled form fields, visible keyboard focus, and text that adjusts to your browser's zoom and to light and dark mode. We're not yet aware of specific problems, but there may be some.

Signing in

Signing in needs a WhatsApp account, because that's how we check your phone number is yours. We can't change how accessible WhatsApp is. The sign-in page gives you three ways to send us your code: a button that opens WhatsApp, a QR code (for opening it from a computer), and the code itself to type in. You don't need to use the QR code. If you can't sign in this way, contact us and we'll work out another way for you to take part.

How we tested this website

We checked the site ourselves while building it. Before the study opens, we plan to test it using only a keyboard, with a screen reader, and at 200% zoom, and to update this page with what we find.

Reporting accessibility problems

If you find a problem that isn't listed on this page, or you can't use part of the site, email kaleidoscope@imperial.ac.uk. Tell us the page, what went wrong, and what device or assistive technology you were using. We aim to reply within 5 working days. If you need information from this site in another format, tell us and we'll do our best to provide it.

Enforcement procedure

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the accessibility regulations. If you're not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).
